Potential Strike at Canada Post

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has provided Canada Post with strike notice, meaning the union can take action as early as Monday, October 22, 2018. Should rotating strike action occur, Canada Post will continue to accept, process, and deliver mail and parcels once the temporary disruption ends. In the event of a full strike at Canada Post, LifeLabs will be unable to mail testing kits through Canada Post.
Please be aware that Canada Post employees can begin a strike on a 72 hours’ notice. In the event of a strike at Canada Post, LifeLabs will be unable to mail testing kits through Canada Post.
What does this mean?
Delivery of LifeLabs Genetics Self-collection kits:
- In the event of a strike, sample collection kits will be sent to patients by FedEx and will include a pre-paid FedEx return label in place of a Canada Post label.
- Patients that have kits containing a Canada Post return label are asked to contact Ask.Genetics@LifeLabs.com or phone 1-844-363-4357 for assistance in arranging a pickup.
Delivery of samples being sent to LifeLabs Genetics for testing
- In the event of a strike, patients that have samples for testing are asked to package the collection kit using the supplied shipping bag and pre-paid FedEx return label. Patients are asked to contact FedEx Express at 1.800.463.3339 to arrange pick-up of their collection kit.
- Patients who do not have direct access to FedEx pickup are asked to contact Ask.Genetics@LifeLabs.com or phone 1-844-363-4357 for assistance in arranging a pickup.
