Ontario – Delay in testing for Anti-Thyroglobulin – Update
As previously communicated, due to a manufacturer reagent supply issue, anti-thyroglobulin testing was temporarily suspended as of Monday, October 2, 2017.
LifeLabs has been able to resolve the supply issue, and the testing has resumed as of October 18, 2017. Testing of the samples received and stored between October 2, 2017 and October 18, 2017 is expected to take 2 - 3 weeks, with the results for all previously stored samples available on or before November 6, 2017.
What this means to you:
- Continue to order anti-thyroglobulin testing and expect the turnaround time for result delivery to return to the usual 1 – 2 business days for all new orders.
- Expect to receive all pending results for samples previously stored by LifeLabs on or before November 6, 2017.
- If you identify any pending anti-thyroglobulin results for a thyroid cancer patient with suspected interference in the thyroglobulin assay, please call LifeLabs Customer Call Centre at 1-877-849-3637 to expedite the testing prior to November 6, 2017.
We apologize again for the inconvenience due to this delay. We look forward to providing you with continued high quality laboratory service, and thank you for your patience and understanding during the time of testing suspension.
If you have any questions or concerns or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Call Centre at 1-877-849-3637.
Sincerely,
Dr. Timothy Feltis
